Race, Gender & Bias Workshop

If bias and ego keep us from true connection to others, what can we do differently?

This workshop is a deep-dive conversation about race, bias, gender and integration of understanding within the environments you interact in. Facilitator, activist and community leader, Rebby Kern, provides an exploration of the ways that bias, race, and gender play an active role in our daily interactions. This workshop combines deep self-awareness with an understanding of systems of power and oppression to push past our own inherited biases and create accountability around racial and gender justice.

This workshop includes self-actualization practices that connect attendees to each other and build trust for meaningful dialogue and guides attendees into a deep understanding of how we show up in the world. Attendees gain tools to breakthrough bias and offer a lens of empathy and connection to people in the world, in yoga studios, fitness and wellness spaces and in everyday conversation. In addition, through individual reflection and group sharing, attendees will learn terms and terminology related to race, power, privilege and oppression, bias and socialization, gender diversity and LGBTQ identities and best practices to implement by instructors within studios to create space for identities which are often marginalized in fitness spaces. 

This workshop is designed for instructors, staff and leaders in yoga and fitness studios, community members, business teams and organizations looking to level up personal accountability and any person seeking to support radically inclusive spaces in their community.
